Career opportunity:
As a Product Specialist you will play a key role in managing Harbourfront’s approved investment product lists. Reporting to the Director of Compliance, you’ll collaborate with investment teams, compliance, and advisors to deliver a best-in-class suite of investment products. This role will report directly to the Director of Compliance.
You will be responsible for:
- Lead monthly meetings of the Product Review Committee.
- Manage and communicate the approved list of exempt products, funds, ETFs, and other permitted securities.
- Prepare quarterly reports for oversight committees.
- Work closely with advisors to ensure investment product shelf offers solutions that meet client needs.
- Maintain relevant policy and procedure documents in partnership with compliance and investment management teams.
- Ongoing monitoring of approved products.
- Undertake research and evaluate risk criteria to support recommendations and monitor securities within supervision tools.
- Serve as the subject matter expert for approved securities.
- Update changes to the approved securities list in a timely and accurate manner.
- Build strong relationships with client-facing groups and educate teams on investment solutions and proficiency requirements.
- Contribute to the assessment of investment products to ensure appropriate risk ratings and investment objectives.
The ideal candidate for this position has:
- University degree in Finance or related field; progress toward CFA designation/advanced business degree preferred.
- 5 years of relevant investment industry experience.
- Demonstrated experience in wealth management, or asset management, working with any, or all of mutual funds, ETF’s, SMA’s, Alternative Assets, portfolio construction, and risk management.
- Investment product or risk management experience.
- Canadian Securities Course is an asset.
- Experience with investment research and portfolio management tools such as Morningstar Direct, Morningstar AWS, Bloomberg, Factset, Refintiv Workspace, CapIntel.
- Experience with trade execution, and/or operational implementation an asset.
- Strong written and verbal communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Team player and relationship builder.
- Motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently with tight deadlines.
- High attention to detail, accuracy, and presentation style.
Salary Range: $91,670- $98,140 per annum (actual salary offered will be commensurate with education, experience, and internal parity).
